Electronics designer, manufacturer becomes affiliate of Purdue Research Park at AmeriPlex-Indianapolis PDF Print E-mail

indy audio labsA Westfield, Ind., company that develops and markets entertainment electronics has become an affiliate company of the Purdue Research Park at AmeriPlex-Indianapolis.

Indy Audio Labs LLC , founded in 2008 by Rick Santiago and Ted Moore, designs and manufactures audio and video rendering products, including the Aragon and Acurus brands. Santiago is the company's CEO, and Moore is COO.

Indy Audio Labs' customers include audio enthusiasts and professionals who recommend or install home audio or home theater equipment. Santiago said Indy Audio Labs' products provide users with high-end performance, simplicity of control and access to content.

"Many people are missing the opportunity to enjoy music or movies in their homes for several reasons," he said. "First, they struggle with simply operating their audio/video equipment. Second, they have a difficult time finding the media that interest them because it often is scattered about on CDs, DVDs, digital media players, DVRs or the Internet. Finally, once they have the media and know how to play it, their equipment strains to deliver. Our products are designed to address these issues."

Santiago said the market for high-quality entertainment electronics has been affected by the national economy, but he believes there will be a demand for new electronics purchases and upgrades when the economy recovers.

"A great opportunity exists for manufacturers like Indy Audio Labs to introduce innovative products that make control simple and access to new media formats easy for the end user while not compromising raw audio/video performance," he said. "By 2012 I predict we'll see dramatically different audio/video systems and components that play a wider variety of media, but with the control simplicity and playback capability found only in high-end home theaters and listening rooms. As a result, the whole industry - including installers, media providers and equipment manufacturers - will be revitalized. The end consumer will be the big winner."

Indy Audio Labs became an affiliate of the Purdue Research Park at AmeriPlex-Indianapolis to be part of the entrepreneurial atmosphere created by other startup companies.

"We can share experiences and knowledge with non-competitive companies regarding common challenges and solutions," Santiago said. "We can more readily access researchers within the Purdue academic system who can help us achieve our product innovation and IP-generation goals. We can minimize and, in some cases, completely avoid, the expense and hassle related to setup and maintenance of key components of our operational infrastructure, such as conference rooms, copiers, administrative assistance and public relations resources. It's a win for our company."
